Funeral services for Olga Islas Villanueva, 84, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at the Joshua Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1912 Conveyor, Joshua, Texas 76058. Pastor Jeff Coleman will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park in Cleburne.
A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Daniel, Blas, Charles, Marcus and Grant Villanueva; and great-grandsons, Jesse Scott and Able Villanueva.
Olga Islas Villanueva was born on Feb. 15, 1930, in Mercedes, Texas to Blas and Diega Islas and entered into rest on Nov. 16, 2014 in Cleburne. Olga lived a full and purposeful life and was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Olga married Mariano Lopez Villanueva on Aug. 17, 1945 and moved to Kopperl, Texas in the 1950’s to make a better life for their family. Olga taught herself how to read, write and speak English and had high expectations for all of her children. They relocated to Cleburne in the 1970’s where she lived the remainder of her days.
She was a member of the Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church and enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, and working work-search puzzles.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Blas and Diega Islas; husband, Mariano Lopez Villanueva; brothers, Juan and Gilbert Islas; and sister, Ninfa Guerra.
She is survived by her daughter, Noemi Villanueva of Cleburne; sons, Hector Villanueva and wife, Mary, of Fort Worth, Texas, David Villanueva and wife, Vickie, of Euless, Texas, Noe Villanueva and wife, Cheryl, of Joshua, Eli Villanueva and wife, Erlinda, of Fort Worth, and Elias Villanueva and wife, Ophelia, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Sherry Scott, Daniel and Joyce Villanueva, Charles Villanueva, Blas and Kelly Villanueva, Gabriel Villanueva, Marcus Villanueva, Melissa and Michael Campbell, Sarah Carlock, Brittany and Scott Sass, Grant Villanueva, Lorraine Villanueva and Tomas Villanueva; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Olga is also survived by sisters, Mary Martinez of Illinois, Eva Bustamante of California, Gloria Flores of Mercedes, Texas; brother, Jose Islas of Lewisville, Texas; sister-in-law, Virginia Munoz, also of Mercedes and Domingo DeLeon, also of California; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
