Services for Louise Choate Perkins, 94, of Cleburne, Texas, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 5th, at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel, 1664 W. Henderson St, Cleburne, TX 76033. Rev. Connan Coker and Rev. Thomas Coker will officiate. Burial will follow in DFW National Cemetery at a later date. There will not be a set visitation.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Perkins, David Perkins, Dr. Stan Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, John Tschirhart, Shane Smith, Dr. Key Vaquera, Dr. Mark Benage, Dick Wileman, and Raymond Speer.

Louise went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Louise was born January 13, 1922, in Greenbrier, Tennessee, to Albert Andrew Choate and Lela Poole Choate. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Gilbert Choate and James Dewey (JD) Choate.

Louise attended Tennessee College for Women in Murfreesboro, TN, and she taught grades 1-4 in a one-room school house. On March 11, 1945, she married 2nd Lt. Albert ("Perk") Perkins in Atlanta, GA. After Perk completed his military service, the couple moved to Memphis, TN. There, Perk graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in 1951. Dr. And Mrs. Perkins then moved to Littlefield, TX, where Louise was a faithful, active member of First Baptist Church for many years. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School and girls' missions organizations. After bravely surviving cancer in 1982, Louise spent time with other cancer patients, encouraging them and inspiring them to keep up the fight.

Louise and Perk also took part in many mission trips around the world. In addition to those travels, Louise accompanied Perk on backpacking trips. Wherever she was, and whatever they were doing, Louise was always the heart of her family - ready with loving hugs, steady faith, sweet patience, a helping hand, and delicious food.

In 1999, Louise moved with Perk to Cleburne to be nearer to family. Mommy Perk, as Louise was known by all who loved her, made friends quickly, adapting to their new home. As a member of First Baptist Church in Cleburne, Louise was a faithful member of her Adult Sunday School class. She was also active in WMU and Sip 'n Sew.

Louise leaves behind her a legacy of grace and gentleness. Those left here to celebrate her life, and to cherish the sweet memories of a long life well-lived, include her husband, Dr. Albert (Perk) Perkins, and their four children and spouses: Brenda and Rev. Thomas Coker, Mike and Claudia Perkins, David and Berta Perkins, and Dianne and Dr. Stan Johnson. The grandchildren whose lives were blessed by Mommy Perk include: Kaytha and Dr. Rob Potts, Catrice Mays, Rev. Connan and Carrie Coker, Anthony and Kelly Perkins, Maita Perkins, Melanie and John Tschirhart, Adrienne and Shane Smith, Traci Perkins Rose, Jeremy and Leah Jane Johnson, Calli and Dr. Key Vaquera, and Drs. AnneMarie and Mark Benage. Twenty great-grandchildren were lovingly cherished by Mommy Perk, and the joy they brought to her life was obvious to all, even after dementia began to take its toll on her health.
Memorial donations may be directed to the general missions fund at First Baptist Church, Cleburne. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the director and staff of Santa Fe Trails, especially the wonderful caregivers in Memory Care, and to the skilled professionals from Freedom Hospice.
