A graveside service for Mrs. Mavis Griffin Lassiter, 103, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Rosehill Cemetery with the Rev. John Glover officiating.
Mrs. Lassiter passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Cleburne, Texas. Mrs. Lassiter was born on October 18, 1913, in Almo, Kentucky, to John and Martha Griffin.
She married Ralph Lassiter of Murray, Kentucky on October 14, 1932, and after several years, they relocated with their four daughters to Cleburne.
Mrs. Lassiter’s husband, Ralph, preceded her in death on September 29, 1972, as well as her daughter, Mary Helen Petranoff of Prescott, Arizona on September 10, 2014.
Mrs. Lassiter loved gardening and took great pride in caring for her yard. Throughout her life, she loved animals and always owned a cat or two and usually a dog as well. Mrs. Lassiter was a best friend to all stray cats who found their way to her home.
She is survived by daughters, Betty Jane Elworth and husband, Don, of Middletown, Ohio, Ann Moore of Arlington, Texas and Alice Wallis of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
