Condolences

Condolence From: Bonnie Rost
Condolence: To my dearest cousins: Jimmy, Dorothy, Albert, and Evelyn – all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, I hold you in my heart and my prayers during this sorrowful time.

Aunt Fannie was there with me from the beginning, so she played a significant part of the part I’ve who I’ve become over the years. Her love and devotion to our Lord influenced me greatly. When I was in dire straits, she was always there in prayer for me. She gave so much of herself to all around her – a heart of gold – and taught me so many things. The most important of all was how to love and forgive.

My fondest memories are when we had get-togethers and the mouth-watering meals she prepared for us. She always made sure that everyone had eaten more than their tummies could hold. Life with her in the kitchen as she prepared meals was a joy – she had the patience of Job.

Storytellers are very few and between, so I’ve been touched by one of the greatest storytellers, Aunt Fannie. She had a way of telling a story that kept your attention and sitting on the edge of your seat. I was one of her greatest admirers when she told stories of our generational past. She had the keenest memory of anyone I knew and she never adlibbed – I found that out in my ancestry research.

The memory I’ll always cherish is her laughter – it always filled my heart with joy. So many memories I can recall, but the one I’ll share is the road-trip she and I took to Stephensville and showed me my first home where we all lived together as a family. It was the most glorious trip as I listened to story after story about my parents and the life we all shared together before she married Uncle Ab. I’ll forever hold her presence close to my heart when we traveled back time.

This poem speaks what I cannot find the word to say by Kathy J Parenteau.

If heaven had a window and God granted me a view,
of all the beauty it beholds, I'd only look for you.
I'd listen for your laughter that was always music to me,
your beautiful hair and hazel eyes is what I'd wish most to see.
If I could only view once more the smile that warmed my heart,
I'd treasure that moment as long as I live and we must be apart.
Here on earth I search for you and pray to God for signs,
and every day that passes you're still with me in my mind.
I know you're happy in heaven; you've earned your mansion indeed,
I imagine your kitchen table and you waiting there for me.
I love you and I miss you more than words can say,
and what I wouldn't give just to talk to you today.
I hope that you can hear me and listen to my thoughts,
and wherever this life takes me you know I've not forgot.
That once upon a time I was blessed and loved, it's true,
and if heaven had a window I'd only look for you.
God Bless You All, and I hold you in my heart and prayers

Condolence From: Dee Dee Culbertson
Condolence: Our hearts go out to all those that loved Fannie because she was such a special woman. "Aunt Fannie" as we called her was my great aunt; and she had a huge impact on my mom's childhood, her niece Bonnie. I only had the pleasure of meeting Aunt Fannie a handful of times due to our move to South Carolina as a child. However, a week didn't go by without my mom mentioning an Aunt Fannie story, but when I was in Aunt Fannie's presence it was pure magic. Thanks so much Danny and Dorothy for making that long trek across country to bring Aunt Fannie to us, it seems like yesterday.

Our hearts and prayers go out to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grand children, and nieces and nephews. What a beautiful woman she was and a beautiful legacy she left for all of us.

Blessings and Prayers,
Dee Dee, Barry, and Bella Culbertson
