A memorial service celebrating the life of Vernie H. Stringer, 96, of Cleburne, Texas will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Pastor Andy Tyler officiating.
Mr. Stringer passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home. He was born in Killeen, Texas on December 25, 1921, the son of Myrtle Lucinda (Arnold) and Benjamin James Stringer.
Vernie married Dolores E. Read on August 4, 1951, in Baytown, Texas.
He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp in World War II from 1942-1946.
Vernie retired from J. C. Penney in 1982, where he was manager of the Cleburne store.
He joined St. Mark United Methodist Church of Cleburne in 1962.
Vernie was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores E. Stringer of Cleburne; daughters, Sherri L. Frost and Stacy L. Richardson and husband, Harold G.; granddaughter, Shannon L. Manietta and husband, Michael; great granddaughter, Emma L. Manietta; brother, Hal E. Stringer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
