Obituary for Sergio Ignacio Manzano


Sergio Ignacio Manzano, 70, of Keene, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Medical City Forth Worth Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Rex E. Callicott Park- Baseball field in Keene, Texas.
Sergio was born August 21, 1947, in Brownsville, Texas. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. His greatest joy in life was sharing food, music, conversation and laughter with family and friends. The highlight of his family’s Christmas was waiting for “Santa” to knock at the door. Sergio was a math educator in Brownsville, Venus and Cleburne school districts.
As a young boy, Sergio played baseball anywhere and everywhere he could. He attended Brownsville schools, played Little League, Pony League and for Brownsville High School graduating in 1965. He was very proud of his baseball years and his face lit up every time he shared his wonderful memories with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Christina M. Manzano; infant daughter, Christina; mother, Maria de los Angeles Capistran Manzano; father, Jose A. Manzano; sister, Magdalena Manzano; and nephew, Ernesto S. Garza.
Left to cherish his memory and live out his legacy are his daughter, Melissa M. Aleman and husband, Delfino and their daughter, Sarai; son, Sergio Manzano Jr and wife, Lisa and their daughters, Katie and her husband, Erick and first great-granddaughter, Olive, Abbey, and Emily and her husband, Ryan; daughter Melinda Manzano and her son, Benjamin; daughter, Marianna M. Moudy and husband, Clint and their children Miranda, Samuel, and Cristina; daughter, Monica M. Angrum and husband, Jason and their children, Maxwell, Jackson and Lila; his companion, Teresa Collazo; siblings, Matilde M. Ramirez and her husband Reynaldo; Elvira M. Medina; Maria Elena M. Guzman; Guadalupe M. Gracia; Dr. Jose H. Manzano; Angie Moorefield and her husband, Allen; and sister, Yolanda M. Cortez.
He will also be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
