Obituary for Doris Elaine Scott (Youngblood)

Doris Elaine Youngblood Scott was born at home at Ike, Texas, in Ellis County on January 24, 1928 to Ernest Franklin Youngblood and Lela Devier Buchanan Youngblood. She gave her life to Christ when she was 9 years old during a summer revival at Ike and was immersed for baptism in Grove Creek in sight of their home.

She married Curtis Dean Scott in Malone, Hill County, Texas on July 2, 1943 and by August 28, 1943 she had polio.

They moved to Cleburne, Texas, in May, 1946 and joined St. Mark United Methodist Church belonging there until the present. She taught the Jr. High Sunday School Class, held office of President of the Women’s Society as well as Secretary of Social Concerns. She and Dean taught the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her children, Larry Dean and wife, Prudence, and Don Frank and wife, Liz; her precious grandchildren, Melody Scott Tanner and husband, Mikell, Jason Dean Scott and his wife, Toni, Patrick Jordan Scott and his wife, Shannon, and Blaire Elizabeth Scott Surley and husband, Chris. Also surviving her are her great grandchildren: Cassidy Tanner, Katie Tanner, Molly Camille Scott, Margaret Caroline Scott, Taylor Mac Scott, Samuel Jordan Surley, and Hudson James Surley.

She is also survived by her beloved sister, Nancy Youngblood Holland and her much loved nieces and nephews: Vickie Simpson, David Holland, Leanne Ingram, and Murray Holland.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lela and Ernest Youngblood; the love of her life, Curtis Dean Scott; and her niece, Sherry Morrow.

Her family would like to thank Bristol Park Assisted Living and Community Hospice for their loving care and support.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial to St. Mark UMC or the Methodist Children’s Home, Waco, Texas.

Her wish is to be honored by each of us by having happy thoughts and performing good deeds.
