Obituary for Ellen Anita Lauterbach (Zent)

Ellen Anita Zent Lauterbach, 73, passed away February 4, 2018, in Burleson, Texas. She was born in Fort Worth on August 8, 1944, the daughter of William L. Zent and Ruth Harwell Zent.
Anita graduated from Polytechnic High School, and attended University of Texas-Arlington majoring in Accounting. She began her civil service career with the U. S. Army, Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, and retired in 2004 from the Corps Finance Center in Millington, TN. Her 30 plus year career culminated with her being awarded the U. S. Army Meritorious Civilian Service medal. Upon her retirement, and being a true and proud Texan, she returned to live the remainder of her life in Burleson, Texas.
Anita adored her dogs and cats, and will be terribly missed by her furbabies Abby, Buddy, and Lucy. She loved puttering around in her garden, and looked forward each year to spring and picking out just the right plants to complete her flower beds.
Anita was predeceased by her beloved son, Mark A. Gregory, in 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Pete, of Burleson, TX; sister, Carolyn Newton of Cleburne, TX; son, Michael Gregory and wife Angie, of Melissa, TX; grandson, Jarod Gregory, of Melissa, TX; niece, Sherri Newton Fossett and husband Joe of Cleburne, TX; nephew, David Newton and wife Kim, of Cleburne, TX; cousin, Margaret Ellen Bemis, of McNeal, AZ; and long time running buddies Terry Alger and Karen Peek Wooten Reddout, both of Fort Worth, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be directed to Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006, or an animal rescue/adoption organization of choice.
