Roy Thompson of Alvarado, Texas passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in Alvarado, Texas.
A graveside service will take place at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 2, 2022.

Roy was born in Wharton County, Texas on November 26, 1947, the son of J.W. Thompson and Samuel Roland Wood and Idelle Thompson Wood. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 - 1970. Roy lived life to the fullest. He did the rodeo scene as a young adult. Roy in his younger years was a bouncer in a nightclub at the stockyards in Fort Worth. He was a welder and built many skyscrapers in the DFW area. Roy moved to East Texas for many years where he lived and worked on a ranch. He loved country music and loved to dance.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Roland Wood and Idelle Thompson Wood; sisters, Donna Jean Wood and Lonna McCarty Bradford.

Roy is survived by sisters, Paulette Freeman, Sheila Bradford and husband, John, Ava Johnson and husband, Sandy, and Patricia Sims and husband, Steve; brothers Tim Gabel, and Sam Wood, II.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Roy was loved by family and friends. He will be missed by all.
